It's so nice having a husband that cares about eating healthy and maintaining his weight.  I have had boyfriends in the past that could eat whatever they wanted whenever they wanted - I always noticed while I was dating someone that my weight would start to increase.  I think this is also what caused a huge weight gain in college.  I had a roommate that had an incredible metabolism and a boyfriend that did too.  They both ate enormous amounts of food without gaining a single pound.  In fact, many times, for whatever reason, they would LOSE weight.  It was so frustrating.  I tried keeping up with them and it got me up to a size 16 pant size!  My husband generally can eat what he wants too, if he is active.  So, in the spring, summer, and fall he is constantly doing things out on the farm that allow him to eat whatever he'd like.  But, as fall creeps into winter he begins his hibernation period.  We all know the winter is the worst season for weight gain because of all the holiday foods.  Eating tons of fatty foods plus no daily exercise causes the weight to start to creep onto my husband (lol, he'd be the first to admit it so don't think I'm "telling" on him to a nationwide audience!).  This morning he woke up and said, "Ok, I'm back up to my goal weight from Jenny Craig, I need to start watching what I eat again."  He's been active but not as considerable as he was all summer.  He's learned well from our consultant and this week said he wants to pay more attention to his portion sizes.  If that doesn't work and he still gains he'll head back to JC for a week or so until he gets control of his weight again.

This is a lesson for all of us.  You don't have to be crazy about the number on the scale - like I am...but you definitely need to be aware of a 5 pound gain.  Once you've hit the 5 pound mark you need to be a little more diligent about portion sizes and exercise for awhile until things start leveling out again.

Snack -

3/4 cup strawberries

Dinner -

JC Lasagna 

Salad (mixed greens, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes) 2 tbsp. light ranch

Snack -

JC S'Mores Bar
